Venue for Saudi Arabia v Egypt pre-World Cup friendly to be decided within 48 hours

The future of the Egyptian national team’s planned friendlies in Qatar this March is set to be clarified within the next 48 hours, amid rising tensions in the Middle East that have prompted discussions about relocating the matches.

Egypt is scheduled to face Saudi Arabia and Spain in Qatar as part of their World Cup preparations ahead of the tournament in June.

According to the Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadh, the Qatar Football Association will soon confirm whether it can safely host these fixtures.

Positive signs have reportedly emerged regarding the resumption of Qatari league matches, with coordination underway to finalize plans.

The report added that if Qatar is unable to host the matches, the city of Jeddah could serve as an alternative venue.

Officials have reportedly coordinated with all relevant parties to ensure a smooth transition if relocation becomes necessary.

Should the switch occur, Jeddah would be the nearest viable option for the Pharaohs’ clash with the Saudi national team.

Egypt will face Belgium, New Zealand, and Iran in Group L at the 2026 World Cup finals.
