Vancouver Whitecaps sign Kwasi Poku

Canadian-Ghanaian attacker Kwasi Poku has officially signed for Vancouver Whitecaps FC after completing a move from Belgian club RWDM Brussels.

The 23-year-old striker has signed a deal through the 2027-28 MLS season, with a club option for 2028-29, and will be added to the roster once his international transfer certificate is received.

Poku arrives in Vancouver after two seasons in Belgium, where he scored six goals in 31 appearances for RWDM Brussels. Before moving to Europe, he built his reputation with Forge FC in the Canadian Premier League, delivering 12 goal contributions in 22 games during the 2024 campaign and helping the club win two CPL titles.

Whitecaps sporting director Axel Schuster described Poku as a young, talented international who brings pace, smart movement and strong finishing to the attack. Poku, a product of the Toronto FC Academy, said joining the Whitecaps feels like a fresh start and that he is excited to play in front of fans at BC Place in his home country.

The Brampton native has already made his senior debut for Canada and becomes the eighth Canadian-born player in the current Whitecaps squad. Vancouver now hope he can turn his promising record into goals in MLS.
