It’s no longer a secret. Matthieu Dossevi has been openly stating since the beginning of the season that this would be his final campaign in Northern France. And he hasn’t wavered from this stance. The Franco-Togolese forward reiterated this in an interview with France Football.
“Yes, I will be leaving this summer, but I haven’t decided where yet. I am open to all possibilities. My agent is handling the rest. We’ll see at the end of the season. But for now, my focus is solely on Valenciennes,” Dossevi declared, amid considerable interest from various clubs. As early as January, Rennes had expressed interest.
However, before departing for a new club, the younger sibling of Thomas Dossevi (formerly of Valenciennes and Nantes) is determined to secure Valenciennes’ future. “We are committed to avoiding relegation. Considering Ligue 2 would be a form of failure and resignation. Despite the club’s challenges, we remain focused. Everyone is motivated, and there is no room for giving up,” he affirmed.
