Valencia linked with Standard Liege goalkeeper Matthieu Epolo
Matthieu Epolo, the DR Congo-Belgian goalkeeper at Standard Liege, has been linked with a move to Valencia.
The 21-year-old is under contract with the Belgian club until 30 June 2029, meaning any potential move would involve a transfer fee rather than a free transfer. Epolo’s listed market value is €8m, providing an indication of the level at which a deal could be assessed, although no fee has been reported.
Valencia play in La Liga, while Standard Liege compete in the Jupiler Pro League. Epolo has been part of the Standard setup since joining the club on 1 July 2021, and the Belgian side remain his current club.
Born in Brussels on 15 January 2005, Epolo holds DR Congo and Belgian nationality. He is a right-footed goalkeeper and stands 1.89m tall.
The rumour places him among the potential goalkeeping options being considered by Valencia, but the move has not been confirmed. With more than two years remaining on his Standard Liege contract, the club retain control of his current situation as speculation about a possible switch to Spain develops.
