USM Alger Sack Coach Hubert Velud After Poor Run of Form
Hubert Velud is no longer in charge at USM Alger. The club from the Algerian capital has dismissed the Frenchman following a defeat against CR Bélouizdad last Friday, a loss that dropped the Red and Blacks to seventh place in the league standings.
Velud, a former coach of the Togo national team, had been under growing pressure due to a four-match winless streak, and the club’s management decided to take action amid mounting dissatisfaction with the team’s results.
Velud took over in November 2013, replacing Rolland Courbis, and notably led USMA to the Algerian league title in May 2014. However, this season has been less convincing, with inconsistent performances and a lack of momentum.
🔄 Interim Coaches Appointed
While the club searches for a permanent replacement, Mustapha Aksouh and Billel Dziri have been named interim managers.
The decision marks another chapter in Velud’s coaching journey across Africa, where he previously managed several clubs and national teams, including Togo, Étoile du Sahel, and TP Mazembe.
