USM Alger are hoping Mohamed-Amine Ramdaoui will recover in time to feature against The Panthers FC in the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Algerian forward is continuing his rehabilitation from a thigh injury and remains doubtful for the first leg, which is scheduled for Tuesday, 20 October at the 5-Juillet Stadium.
Ramdaoui’s return would provide a significant boost for manager Lamine N’Diaye. The young centre-forward has scored two league goals this season and is regarded as one of the important attacking options in the USM Alger squad.
His absence has been felt in the club’s recent matches, according to the Algerian press. However, the postponement of the fixture has given him additional time to continue his recovery and improve his chances of being involved.
The attacker must still complete further rehabilitation work before a decision can be made. The technical staff will need to establish that he has recovered sufficiently before considering him for inclusion in the squad to face The Panthers FC.
USM Alger, the defending champions, will play both matches of the tie in Algiers. The first leg will take place on 20 October, with the return match following on 25 October. Both games are scheduled to kick off at 20:00.
Playing the two legs at home gives the Rouge et Noir an opportunity to take control of the tie in familiar surroundings. Ramdaoui’s availability would give N’Diaye another attacking option, but only if his physical condition allows him to return to competitive action.
