USM Alger have officially won their case against RS Berkane at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), a victory that marks a significant moment for Algerian football.
The dispute, which arose from a controversial CAF Confederation Cup match cancellation, has finally been resolved in favour of the Algerian club.
In an official statement on Wednesday, USMA expressed deep gratitude to those who played a pivotal role in securing justice.
“This success is the result of collective effort and unwavering support from the Algerian government, the Algerian Football Federation (FAF), and our legal team,” the club declared.
The Algerian government’s backing was crucial.
“The state mobilized all resources to defend the interests of Algerian clubs on the international stage,” USMA emphasized.
FAF President Walid Sadi and the Minister of Sports also provided institutional support throughout the legal battle.
USMA also acknowledged their legal team, particularly Arno Conston and Amin Hassani.
“Their strong and professional advocacy clarified legal facts and reinforced our rightful position,” the club stated.
The ruling not only restores justice for USMA but also highlights the flaws in CAF’s handling of the case.
“CAF’s failure to uphold its own regulations has been exposed,” analysts observed.
For USMA, this victory is more than just about one match. “It’s a statement that Algerian football will not be silenced,” a club representative concluded.
