Fresh developments have emerged in Spain regarding the widely reported case of an alleged sexual assault said to have taken place at the home of Barcelona star Lamine Yamal.
Earlier reports indicated that Catalan police had opened an investigation following allegations made by a Dutch woman, who claimed she was sexually assaulted after spending an evening at what was described as Yamal’s residence.
Initial coverage suggested that the alleged incident involved Fatino, the brother of Monaco and former Barcelona player Ansu Fati, with accusations including drugging and harassment.
According to Spanish newspaper ABC, the woman stated that she had gone out with friends to a nightclub in Barcelona before continuing the night at Lamine Yamal’s house. She claimed that she later woke up there next to Fatino and believed she had been drugged and sexually assaulted during the night.
She was quoted as saying, “The victim had been celebrating at a Barcelona nightclub before going with her friends to Lamine Yamal’s house to continue the evening. When she woke up, she suspected that she had been drugged the previous night and sexually assaulted.”
The story quickly gained widespread attention across Spanish media, largely due to the involvement of Yamal’s name in the reports, despite him not being accused of any wrongdoing.
However, newspaper AS reported on Wednesday that the legal team representing Lamine Yamal had formally contacted the publication to correct details contained in its earlier article on the case. In its initial coverage, AS had repeated claims suggesting the alleged assault took place at Yamal’s home.
The outlet subsequently issued a correction after confirmations from FC Barcelona and the Catalan police clarified that the information was inaccurate. According to these confirmations, Lamine Yamal had no connection whatsoever to the alleged incident and, if such events did occur, they did not take place on any property belonging to the Barcelona player.
