The departure of El-Ameri Farouk, the esteemed figure with an outstanding administrative legacy at Al-Ahly, has left the position of the club’s vice president in a state of uncertainty.
The former Minister of Sports passed away last Friday at the age of 54, leaving a void in the history of “The Island.”
The current board of directors of Al-Ahly consists of 11 members, with Mahmoud El Khatib as the president, Khaled Mortagy as the secretary-general, and other prominent figures such as Tarek Qandil, Mohamed Shoukry, Mohamed Eldamati, Mohamed El Ghazawi, Hossam Ghaly, Mohamed Sarag, Mohannad Magdy, Mohamed El Garhi, and May Atef as members.
Talal Abdullatif, a sports regulations expert, emphasized the necessity of inviting nominations for the vice president’s seat during the upcoming regular general assembly, which is expected to take place between July 1 and October 30.
Abdullatif stated in an exclusive interview with “Al-Masry Al-Youm,” “The general assembly is convened within 45 days, and if the quorum is not met, we must wait until the next regular general assembly, which is the election date.”
In the event that the quorum is not met, Abdullatif explained, “One of the current board members will be assigned the responsibilities of the vice president.”
As Al-Ahly navigates this period of transition, the football community watches closely, awaiting the developments that will shape the future leadership structure of one of Egypt’s most prestigious football clubs.
The process of selecting a new vice president will undoubtedly be a pivotal moment in Al-Ahly’s ongoing journey.
