Ugandan refereeing team appointed for Egypt’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Malawi
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed a Ugandan refereeing team for Egypt’s fourth-round 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Malawi.
The match will be played in Malawi on Tuesday, 17 November, four days after the two sides meet in the third round at Cairo International Stadium on Friday, 13 November.
The appointed officials are:
– Referee: Lucky Razak Kasali – Assistant referee 1: Ronald Katenya – Assistant referee 2: Emmanuel Okudra – Fourth official: Dick Okello
The next international window will run from 9 November to 17 November.
Kasali has officiated only one match involving an Egyptian side during his career. That came in May, when Egypt defeated Tunisia at the Africa Cup of Nations Under-17 tournament.
Egypt began their qualifying campaign with a goalless draw against Angola in Cairo before recording a 5-0 victory over South Sudan away from home in the second round.
The source standings list Egypt top of the group with four points after two matches, level with Angola. Malawi are reported to be third on three points, while South Sudan are bottom without a point.
Angola is also listed in third place with one point from one match, with South Sudan again recorded at the foot of the table without any points.
Egypt’s most recent match was a friendly defeat by South Africa at Cairo International Stadium at the end of the October international break.
That result was Hossam Hassan’s first defeat as Egypt manager at Cairo International Stadium. It was also his sixth loss as the national team’s coach, following defeats by Croatia, Uzbekistan, Senegal, Brazil, Argentina and South Africa.
Hassan has drawn 12 matches and won 20 during his time in charge of Egypt.
