Uganda Cranes defender Elio Capradossi has signed with Italian Serie B club AS Cittadella on a contract running through the end of the 2024/25 season.
The club confirmed the signing in an official statement, noting: “AS Cittadella is pleased to announce the acquisition of Capradossi’s sporting rights. Born in 1996 in Uganda but raised in Italy, the defender developed through Roma’s youth system. He made his professional debut with Bari between 2016 and 2018 before returning to Roma, where he later made his Serie A debut.”
Capradossi, a product of Roma’s academy, captained their U19 team to the 2015–16 Italian U19 Championship.
In the summer of 2016, he was loaned to Serie B side Bari, where he made his league debut on September 24, 2016, starting in a match against Benevento at Stadio San Nicola.
After a season and a half with Bari, Capradossi returned to Roma in January 2018 and made his Serie A debut on May 6, 2018, in a 1–0 away victory against Cagliari. On July 20, 2018, he was loaned to Spezia in Serie B for the 2018–19 season.
Capradossi signed a permanent four-year deal with Spezia on August 1, 2019. However, in July 2020, he suffered a serious knee injury that sidelined him for ten months.
He made his return to Serie A with Spezia on May 23, 2021, in a match against Roma after three years.
In June 2024, Capradossi opted to represent Uganda at the international level, thanks to his Ugandan birthplace.
He made his debut for the Uganda Cranes on June 7, 2024, in a World Cup qualifier against Botswana at Mandela National Stadium, playing the full match as Uganda won 1–0.
