The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced that the Mandela Stadium in Kampala, Uganda, will host the third-place playoff match at the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The upcoming tournament, which will be held from August 2 to August 2025, will be co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda
This edition of the tournament marks a return to East African soil following the 2016 edition in Rwanda.
In an official statement from CAF on Thursday, June 19, it said, “The Mandela Stadium in Kampala, Uganda has been designated to host the third and fourth match of the event.”
Tanzania’s Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam will host the opening match of the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship.
Kenya’s Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi will host the Final match of the Competition on 30 August 2025.
Additionally, Zanzibar has been designated as one of the Host Venues. It is a decision that underscores CAF’s commitment to expanding the reach and inclusivity of African football.
Zanzibar’s Amaan Stadium recently staged a successful TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup 2024/25 Final in May this year.
Meanwhile, Equatorial Guinea has been replaced by Congo for the 2024 CHAN following the decision of the CAF Appeals Board.
