Uganda striker Hudson Mbalire joins Boston Eagles on free transfer

Uganda centre-forward Hudson Mbalire has joined Boston Eagles from NEC FC on a free transfer, completing his move on 1 August 2026.

The 21-year-old leaves NEC after one season with the Ugandan club, having joined them from Wakiso Giants on 28 August 2025. His move to Boston Eagles represents the next step in a career that has so far been spent in Uganda’s domestic game.

Mbalire made 34 appearances in the Uganda Premier League and scored six goals, playing 2,061 minutes in the competition. His scoring rate was one goal every 344 minutes.

The forward’s arrival gives Boston Eagles a player whose recognised position is centre-forward. Mbalire was born on 6 January 2005 and is eligible to represent Uganda, with the country listed as his nationality.

He spent the 2025-26 campaign at NEC FC after moving from Wakiso Giants. That transfer came less than a year before his switch to the United States, making Boston Eagles his third senior club recorded in the available career history.

Mbalire’s Uganda Premier League record includes appearances across the competition rather than a single standout scoring campaign, with his six goals coming from 34 matches. He also featured in the career record for the CAF Confederation Cup, although no appearances or goals are recorded for him in that competition.

His move follows a short spell at NEC and brings an end to his time in Uganda’s top-flight football system. Boston Eagles have now secured the services of the Ugandan striker without a transfer fee.

The transfer was registered on 1 August 2026, with no new contract expiry date recorded. Hudson Mbalire has therefore completed a free transfer from NEC FC to Boston Eagles.
