Uganda Defeats Ethiopia 3-0 in Friendly Ahead of Crucial Ghana Clash
As part of preparations for Matchday 5 of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, Uganda delivered an emphatic 3-0 victory over Ethiopia in an international friendly played on Sunday at the Namboole Stadium in Kampala.
With free admission, the stadium was packed with a lively crowd, creating a charged atmosphere. The Cranes dominated possession but initially struggled to convert chances. However, just before the break, Geoffrey Massa opened the scoring, giving the home side a 1-0 lead.
In the second half, Yunus Sentamu doubled the advantage, and Faruk Miya sealed the win with a third goal, sending fans into celebration.
This morale-boosting win comes ahead of a high-stakes clash with Ghana on Saturday, also at Namboole. Uganda sits third in Group E with 4 points, and a win over group leaders Ghana could significantly improve their chances of qualifying for the AFCON 2015 tournament.
In the group’s other fixture, Togo will host Guinea, making Matchday 5 pivotal in determining who advances.
