UFOA TOURNAMENT: TOGO TAKES OUT ITS CLAWS ON LIBERIA!
Rebounding from a challenging start with a 1-3 defeat against Senegal, Togo showcased an impressive response in their second group match at the UFOA Tournament (Union of West African Federations). The reigning champions, the Sparrowhawks, displayed their prowess by securing a dominant 4-0 victory over Liberia this Sunday.
In the first half, Tchakala Tchanilé’s squad exerted control over the game, consistently pressuring the Liberian defense. Saibou Badarou, the leading scorer of the 2012-2013 Togo championship with 14 goals, made several attempts to break the deadlock. However, it wasn’t until the second half that Badarou found the mark.
Taking advantage of a cross from Nouwoklo, Badarou scored with a header, putting Togo in the lead. The situation for Liberia worsened when Eddie Wulue received a red card for a late tackle. Exploiting the numerical advantage, Kokouvi Gazozo and Kondo Arimiyaou scored two goals in one minute. Sapol Mani, recognized as the “Fair Play Player” in the first match, sealed the impressive 4-0 victory with a direct free-kick.
In the other group match, Niger faced Senegal. Togo’s next crucial encounter will be against Niger, while Liberia will take on Senegal on Tuesday. The results of the group and the upcoming matches will significantly impact the tournament dynamics.
