Togo Postpones Start of WAEMU Tournament Preparations Due to Domestic League Commitments
Togo’s preparations for the upcoming WAEMU (UEMOA) Tournament have been pushed back to next Monday, after originally being slated to start this Thursday. The delay stems from a request by club presidents, who insisted that players be released only after the conclusion of the national championship, scheduled for this Sunday.
The tournament will be held in Lomé from November 22 to 29, with Togo drawn into Group A alongside Mali, Niger, and Ivory Coast.
🇹🇬 Coaching and Squad Update
Recently appointed local team coach, Adam Fazazi, has already finalized a provisional squad for the tournament. However, this list:
-
Has not been officially released yet
-
Currently excludes players active in other UEMOA countries
-
May see the inclusion of 3–4 UEMOA-based players after the first phase of training
With Togo hosting the tournament, there’s heightened expectation for the Hawks to put on a strong showing in front of home fans. The coming week will be crucial as the squad regroups and final preparations get underway.
