The coach of Senegal’s national football team, Joseph Koto, accused the Niger team of fielding players with incorrect birth dates during a press conference. According to Koto, the dates of birth on the passports of five Niger players do not match those on their licenses. He reported the issue to the referee during the match, but the referee stated that it is not within his role to handle such reservations. Koto insisted that Senegal has filed a reservation, and according to football regulations, Niger should lose the match. In response, Niger’s coach, Gernot Rohr, denied the allegations, stating that the competition allows players from the national championship or UEMOA area with Nigerian nationality to participate. Rohr emphasized that they provided both passports and original licenses and criticized the unsporting approach of seeking victory on the green carpet. The dispute adds tension to the ongoing UEMOA Tournament in West Africa.
