CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: DROGBA SCORES 50TH GOAL AS CHELSEA CRUSH SCHALKE
Chelsea delivered a dominant performance on Tuesday evening, dismantling Schalke 04 with a resounding 5-0 victory in the fifth round of the UEFA Champions League group stage. Among the five goals was a special one from Didier Drogba, who came off the bench in the second half to net his 50th goal in European competition.
Speaking after the match, the Ivorian striker shared his joy:
“We played very well. We’re top of the group and we’re qualified, so it was a very good evening,” said Drogba. “I scored my 50th European goal, apparently. It’s a great performance. I still remember my first goal, with Marseille against Real Madrid (4-2). More than ten years later, I’m on 50 — it’s incredible!”
With Chelsea in excellent form and already through to the knockout stage, Drogba will have more chances to add to his impressive tally as the Champions League campaign continues.
