Udinese reject Inter Milan’s bid for Ivorian defender Oumar Solet

Udinese reject Inter Milan’s bid for Ivorian defender Oumar Solet

Udinese have turned down an offer from Inter Milan for Ivorian centre-back Oumar Solet, with the Serie A side deeming the proposal financially inadequate.

Inter had identified the 24-year-old as a key target to bolster their defensive ranks ahead of the new season.

However, journalist Rudy Galetti reports that Udinese swiftly rejected the Nerazzurri’s approach, which fell short of their valuation of the player.

While Udinese are open to the possibility of Solet leaving the club, their stance is clear: they will not part ways with one of their most promising defenders for a reduced fee.

This firm position could prompt Inter to look elsewhere, with reports suggesting the Milanese club are now weighing alternative options to strengthen their back line.

Solet, born in Melun, France, and holding Ivorian nationality, has been a standout performer for Udinese since joining the Friulian club.

He is currently valued at €18 million and remains under contract until June 2027, giving the club significant leverage in transfer negotiations.

The centre-back played an important role in Udinese’s Serie A campaign last season, featuring in 19 matches. His contributions included one goal and two assists, underlining his ability to influence play both defensively and offensively.

Inter’s pursuit of Solet comes as part of a wider effort to reinforce their squad following another competitive season in Italy’s top flight.

The Lombardy club, however, may now reassess their transfer strategy if Udinese’s asking price proves too high, with other defensive targets reportedly on their radar.

For Udinese, the rejection signals their determination to hold onto key players ahead of the upcoming Serie A season.

The club are preparing to face Hellas Verona in their opening fixture, with Solet expected to play a crucial role if he remains at the Dacia Arena.

The 24-year-old’s combination of physical presence, tactical awareness, and composure on the ball has attracted interest from several clubs, but Udinese’s firm negotiating stance shows they are unwilling to compromise.

With Solet tied down to a long-term contract, Udinese are in no rush to sell, giving them control over the defender’s immediate future.

As the transfer window progresses, all eyes will be on whether Inter return with an improved bid or shift their attention to alternative signings.

For now, Solet remains a central figure in Udinese’s plans as they look to start their Serie A campaign strongly.
