UD Leiria secures vital victory against Torreense with Zié Ouattara’s goal

UD Leiria emerged victorious with a commanding 3-0 win over Torreense at the Manuel Marques stadium, thanks in part to a goal from Ivorian defensive midfielder Zié Ouattara.

The encounter, part of the league’s third day fixtures, saw Leiria execute a well-planned strategy, resulting in a significant triumph that bolsters their position in the league standings.

Torreense, on the other hand, faced mounting pressure as they extended their winless streak to seven games, underscoring the importance of regaining confidence.

Despite a relatively evenly contested start to the match, it was UD Leiria who seized the initiative. Zié Ouattara calmly converted from the penalty spot in the 25th minute after Paul Ayongo was brought down inside the box by Keffel, giving the visitors a crucial lead.

Building on this momentum, Jair da Silva showcased his prowess with an acrobatic finish to double Leiria’s advantage in the 31st minute, leaving Torreense struggling to find a response.

As the second half unfolded, Torreense made tactical changes in a bid to inject more attacking impetus into their play. However, Leiria opted to sit back and absorb pressure, looking to capitalize on counter-attacking opportunities

. This approach paid dividends late in the game when Jair da Silva completed his brace in the 86th minute, sealing a comprehensive 3-0 victory for UD Leiria.
