Guinean striker Serhou Guirassy extends historic scoring run with Borussia Dortmund

Guinean striker Serhou Guirassy put up a top performance on Wednesday night, scoring and assisting a goal to lead Borussia Dortmund to a huge 4-1 victory against Athletic Club.

In the game played at Signa Iduna Park, the hosts opened the scoring in the 28th minute when Daniel Svensson showed sharp instincts inside the box, meeting a precise pass from Karim Adeyemi and firing home a first-time effort to give Dortmund the lead.

Early in the second half, Carney Chukwuemeka doubled the advantage in the 50th minute with a dazzling solo effort, weaving through several defenders before his shot took a deflection that wrong-footed goalkeeper Unai Simon.

Athletic Club fought back and halved the deficit in the 61st minute through Gorka Guruzeta, who capitalised on a rebound to unleash a fine strike into the right corner.

Dortmund, however, restored their cushion late in the game. Guirassy got on the scoresheet in the 82nd minute, deflecting a shot into the net to make it 3-1, before Julian Brandt capped off the night in stoppage time with a composed finish to seal the emphatic victory.

The result is the first win for Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League this season.
