Lamine Yamal was on target for FC Barcelona on Wednesday night, but his opener wasn’t enough to secure a win as the Spanish giants played out a 2-2 draw against Atalanta in the UEFA Champions League.
The teenager of Moroccan descent struck in the 47th minute after receiving a well-timed pass from Raphinha inside the box. Yamal kept his composure and slotted a low shot into the middle of the goal to give Barcelona the lead.
Atalanta responded in the 67th minute when Ederson unleashed a stunning long-range strike that flew past the goalkeeper and into the left post. However, Barcelona regained the advantage just five minutes later, with Ronald Araújo rising highest to head home a corner from Raphinha.
The Italian side refused to back down and found an equalizer in the 79th minute. After a scramble inside the box, Marten de Roon managed to poke the ball to Mario Pašalić, who calmly finished into the middle of the net to secure a draw.
Despite Barcelona’s early lead, Atalanta’s resilience ensured that both sides shared the spoils in an entertaining contest.
