German defender of Ivorian descent, Jonathan Tah, was on target for Bayern Munich on Tuesday night, sealing a 3-1 victory for the team against Sporting Lisbon in the UEFA Champions League.

On the matchday, Sporting opened the scoring in the 54th minute after a moment of misfortune for Bayern, when Joshua Kimmich intercepted a pass and accidentally diverted the ball into his own net. The setback, however, only fuelled Bayern’s response.

Their equaliser arrived in the 65th minute when Michael Olise swung in a teasing corner that fell perfectly for Serge Gnabry. The winger reacted sharply, firing a close-range effort inside the left post to make it 1-1.

Just four minutes later, Bayern turned the game around. Konrad Laimer delivered a precise cross into the box that picked out Lennart Karl, who struck cleanly to give the hosts a 2-1 lead.

The victory was sealed in the 77th minute. Gnabry rose to meet a free kick and knocked the ball into the path of Jonathan Tah, who was left unmarked.

The defender calmly slotted home to complete Bayern’s comeback and secure all three points.
