UCL: Jeremie Frimpong suffers muscle injury during Liverpool’s 5-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt
Dutch defender of Ghanaian descent, Jeremie Frimpong, is facing a spell on the sidelines after picking up a muscle injury in Liverpool’s emphatic 5-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Champions League.
Frimpong, who started the match on Wednesday night, looked bright in the opening stages but was forced off in the 19th minute after going down in visible pain following a challenge. Medical staff rushed onto the pitch to attend to him, but he was unable to continue and was replaced by Conor Bradley.
Liverpool conceded shortly after his withdrawal, with Rasmus Kristensen putting Frankfurt ahead. However, the Reds responded strongly, turning the game around before halftime with goals from Hugo Ekitike, Virgil van Dijk, and Ibrahima Konate to lead 3-1 at the break.
Cody Gakpo and Dominik Szoboszlai added two more goals in the second half to complete a dominant 5-1 comeback victory, marking the end of Liverpool’s four-game losing streak in the competition.
Jeremie Frimpong is expected to undergo further medical evaluation on Thursday to determine the severity of the injury. Manager Arne Slot remains hopeful that the defender will make a swift recovery and return to action soon.
