Ghana international Thomas Partey is a doubt for Arsenal ahead of the team’s encounter against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League next week.
The Gunners are set to face Los Blancos next week in Spain, holding a strong advantage after securing a 3-0 victory in the first leg. Partey, who delivered an impressive performance in that encounter, is expected to play a vital role as Arsenal look to seal progression in the European competition.
However, the Ghana international suffered a setback on Saturday after picking up a knock during Arsenal’s match against Brentford. The midfielder was forced off early, raising doubts about his availability for the upcoming tie.
Addressing the situation in his post-match interview, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta confirmed the concern but remained cautious about drawing conclusions.
“Thomas Partey felt something so we didn’t want to take any risks. We don’t know — I haven’t spoken to the doctors yet,” Arteta said.
The Arsenal boss also provided an update on defender Ben White, who missed the match entirely.
“Ben White, we don’t know. He wasn’t in condition to make the squad today to be selected. We have a few days so let’s wait and see,” Arteta added.
The crucial second leg meeting between Real Madrid and Arsenal is scheduled for Wednesday, April 16, and will kick off at 7 pm.
