UCL: Aubameyang shines with two assists in Marseille’s 3-2 victory over Royale Union SG
Gabon forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang provided two assists on Tuesday night, helping Olympique Marseille to defeat Royale Union SG 3-2 in the UEFA Champions League.
The match got off to a fast start with Royale Union taking the lead in the 5th minute. Rob Schoofs slid a pass to Anan Khalaili, who unleashed a stunning long-range shot that beat the goalkeeper into the bottom right corner.
Marseille responded ten minutes later when Igor Paixao fired a rebound into the top left corner, levelling the score at 1-1.
Marseille then took the lead in the 41st minute, with Mason Greenwood finding space inside the box to finish off a precise pass from Aubameyang, making it 2-1. Greenwood added a second goal in the 58th minute after a brilliant solo run, curling a shot from just outside the box into the bottom left corner.
Royale Union fought back in the 71st minute as Khalaili struck a low shot from the edge of the box following a rebound, but Marseille held on to claim the hard-fought 3-2 win.
Aubameyang’s vision and creativity were instrumental in the victory, highlighting his influence on Marseille’s European campaign.
