German-Nigerian forward Uche Obiogumu is ready for a new chapter in his career following his loan move from FC Nurnberg to FC Schweinfurt.
The 21-year-old striker, fresh off a strong season in the Regionalliga Bayern, heads to the 3rd tier of German football with a contract extension in his pocket, a sign of Nurnberg’s belief in his long-term potential.
Obiogumu made 24 appearances for Nurnberg’s U23 side last season, where he led the team in both goals (11) and assists (7) under coach Andreas Wolf. The club sees the move as the next step in his development, giving him the chance to test himself in a more competitive league.
“Uche has completed a great season in the U23 and moved in the right direction. In Schweinfurt, he can now gain his first experience in the third league and mature further. We will accompany him closely and have found Schweinfurt a club in the third division, which can bring out its strengths even more due to their way of playing,” said Nurnberg’s Board of Sport, Joti Chatzialexiou.
