The second half saw Egypt gain momentum. A generous penalty was awarded, which Ramadan Sobhi calmly converted to give the hosts the lead. South Africa tried to mount a comeback, but Egypt remained in control. Abdel Rahman Magdy then added two goals in quick succession, within just five minutes, sealing a comfortable 3-0 win and a spot in the final.
Egypt and Ivory Coast have now both secured qualification for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. South Africa still has a chance to claim a place at the Olympics if they can defeat Ghana in the third-place playoff.
