Africa Exits U20 World Cup as Senegal Falls to South Korea on Penalties
Africa no longer has a representative at the 2019 U20 World Cup. After Mali’s elimination on Friday, Senegal became the continent’s final hope but was knocked out by South Korea on Saturday.
The match ended 3-3 after extra time, with Senegal’s goals coming from Cavin Ndiaye (37′), Ibrahima Niane (75′, penalty), and Amadou Ciss (121′). Despite their efforts, the Young Lions fell short in the penalty shootout, losing 3-2 to a more fortunate South Korean side.
With this result, Africa’s campaign at the tournament concludes without a team in the semi-finals, marking a disappointing end for the continent.
