Nigeria began their U20 World Cup campaign with a dominant 4-0 victory over Qatar, asserting themselves as early contenders in Group D.
The Flying Eagles took the lead in the 12th minute through Maxwell Effiom, who capitalized on an early opportunity to give Nigeria the advantage. Offia Okechukwu extended the lead in the 24th minute, sending the team into halftime with a comfortable 2-0 lead.
After the break, Tom Dele-Bashiru added a third goal in the 68th minute, further solidifying Nigeria’s control of the match. Aliou Salawudine then sealed the victory with a fourth goal in the 74th minute, ensuring a comprehensive win.
With this result, Nigeria tops Group D as they await the outcome of the match between Ukraine and the United States, putting them in a strong position to advance to the knockout stages of the tournament.
