Mali Held to 1-1 Draw by Panama in U20 World Cup Opener
Mali’s U20 team got off to a rocky start at the World Cup on Saturday, being held to a 1-1 draw by Panama.
The Eagles looked promising early on, with Boubacar Konté giving Mali the lead in the 39th minute. However, their advantage didn’t last, as Panama earned a late penalty converted by Diego Valenta, snatching an equalizer and leaving Mali with just one point from their opening match.
Now, Mali must bounce back against Saudi Arabia in their second group match to keep their hopes alive, before facing France in their final Group E encounter.
