The Aiglons (Malian team) were expected to perform better, especially given their position with two points before the match against what was considered the weakest team in the group.
However, coach Moussa Keita’s team fell short tactically and underestimated their opponent, resulting in a significant defeat. The Mexican goals were scored by Bueno, Corona, Escoboza, and Luna, while Mali managed to score one goal through Diallo. Unfortunately for Mali, this defeat means they exit the competition, leaving Ghana in a precarious position, as they must now compete for the third-best place with Mexico, which has the advantage in goal difference.
