The Moroccan U20 national team faced a setback in the first round of the World Cup qualifiers, losing 4-0 to their Tunisian counterparts at the Stade Moulay El Hassan in Rabat. The Tunisian goals were scored by Meriem Jabbar (18′, 56′ on penalty), Soumaya Laamiri (56′), and Chaima Khazri (90′).
In two weeks, the Lionesses will have an opportunity to redeem themselves as they face Tunisia in the return leg. The victorious team will advance to the second round, where they will encounter Nigeria. Subsequently, the winner of the second round will proceed to the third and final qualifying round for the World Cup scheduled to take place from August 5 to 24, 2014, in Canada.
