South Africa and Zambia shared the spoils in a thrilling 1-1 draw on Friday evening in their final Group A clash at the CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations.
The result sees South Africa finish top of the group and secure a spot in the knockout stages alongside Sierra Leone.
Kutlwano Letlhaku gave South Africa the perfect start, slotting home in the 8th minute to give his side the lead. But Zambia responded quickly, with Bonephanseo Phiri levelling the score just four minutes later in the 12th minute.
Both sides pushed for a winner in an intense second half, but neither could break the deadlock as the match ended 1-1.
After four matches played in the group, South Africa, Sierra Leone, and Egypt all finished with seven points, but goal difference handed the top two spots to South Africa and Sierra Leone. Zambia narrowly missed out with six points, while Tanzania ended the group stage without a point.
South Africa and Sierra Leone now turns its focus to the quarterfinals.
