The head coach of the Ghana U20 national team, Desmond Ofei, has revealed that his immediate goal for the 2025 CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations tournament is to advance from the group stage to the knockout stage.
The team nicknamed the Black Satellites arrived in Egypt on Sunday to continue with preparations towards the start of the continental tournament.
Speaking to CAFOnline, Coach Desmond Ofei noted that his team wants to go into the tournament with the mentality of taking each game as it comes.
Although he admits that Ghana wants to win the U20 AFCON, the coach insists that the Black Satellites are focusing on advancing to the knockout stage.
“Our immediate goal is to get out of the group stage. From there, we take it one step at a time. Of course, the long-term aim is to win the tournament and qualify for the U-20 World Cup, but we’ll do that by staying consistent and focused on the process,” coach Desmond Ofei said.
At the CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations tournament this year, Ghana has been drawn into Group C and will face off with Senegal, DR Congo, and the Central African Republic.
