Ghana’s U20 national team put up a hard-fought performance on Monday night to defeat Senegal 1-0 in the 2025 CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
The Black Satellites faced off with the defending champions today in a second Group C match at the tournament currently ongoing in Egypt.
In the match played at Suez Stadium, both national teams went into the game determined to give everything for the three points, especially after drawing their opening games at the tournament.
At the end of the contest between the two top teams, Ghana carried the day thanks to a solitary strike from Emmanuel Mensah in the 15th minute after he was set up by talented forward Jerry Afriyie.
The win has improved Ghana’s chances of qualifying for the knockout stage of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Black Satellites are second in Group C with four points, behind DR Congo on same points but superior goal difference.
Senegal follows in third while the Central African Republic sits bottom of the table.
Ghana must now prepare for their final Group C game against the Central African Republic.
