Nigeria delivered an exceptional performance on Tuesday in the United Arab Emirates during the semi-final of the Under-17 World Cup. The Golden Eagles convincingly defeated Sweden 3-0, securing their spot in the final in a match that was thoroughly controlled by Manu Garba’s team.
In the first half, dominated by the Africans, the lone goal from Taiwo Awoniyi made the difference. As the game progressed, Sweden, who had previously held Nigeria to a 3-3 draw in the group stage, struggled to maintain the pace. In a rapid sequence during the 80th and 81st minutes, Samuel Okon and Chidera Ezeh extinguished the Scandinavians’ hopes for a comeback. The final score stood at 3-0.
Coincidentally, Mexico also delivered a 3-0 victory against Argentina in the other semi-final played an hour earlier. The stage is now set for an exciting grand finale on Friday.
