Cameroon were crowned African U17 champions on Sunday after a dramatic 5-3 penalty shootout win over Guinea in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, following a goalless draw after 90 minutes.
Striker Steve Mvoue, who plays for Toulouse alongside his brother Stéphane Zobo, was named Player of the Tournament, while his teammate Daouda Amadou received the Player of the Final award.
Angola secured the bronze medal, finishing ahead of Nigeria. Angolan striker Pedro Capemba, who scored four goals in the tournament, claimed the top scorer title.
Cameroon, Guinea, Angola, and Nigeria will go on to represent Africa at the U17 World Cup in Brazil, carrying the continent’s hopes on the global stage.
