Côte d’Ivoire U17 opened their TotalEnergies CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2026 campaign in impressive fashion, securing a confident 2-0 victory over Cameroon in their Group B clash on Wednesday.

The Young Elephants delivered a composed and disciplined performance to overcome the two-time champions, with Ange Nomane and Hubert Yao scoring in the second half to seal all three points.

After a balanced and cautious first half, Côte d’Ivoire gradually asserted control of the game, with their attacking pressure eventually paying off in the 52nd minute when Ange Nomane broke the deadlock with a calm and well-taken finish.

Cameroon responded with efforts from their wide attackers Rony Baliag Nougi and Omar Amir Tsombeng, but they were repeatedly denied by a compact Ivorian defence that remained solid throughout.

Côte d’Ivoire wrapped up the win late in the match when Hubert Yao added a second goal, finishing confidently to complete a strong all-around team display.

The result gives the WAFU B champions a perfect start in a competitive Group B that also includes Uganda and debutants DR Congo.
