Morocco’s U-20 head coach Mohamed Wahbi says his side is determined to make a strong impression at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile, despite being drawn into one of the tournament’s most challenging groups.

The Atlas Cubs will compete in Group C alongside Brazil, Spain, and Mexico — three nations with rich histories in youth football. Morocco enters the competition as runners-up from the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, carrying both momentum and expectation.

Speaking to the Moroccan Football Association’s official website, Wahbi expressed confidence in his squad’s preparation ahead of their opening match against Spain.

“The training and preparation period were ideal, and everything was perfect,” Hebi told the Moroccan Football Association website ahead of their opener against Spain this weekend.

“We have a match that everyone sees as difficult and complicated against the Spanish national team (on the 28th of this month). We have great respect for this team, but we do not fear them, of course.”

The coach emphasized the importance of getting off to a positive start.

“It’s clearly important to us to start the journey against an opponent as big as Spain with a positive result. The group is complex and includes strong teams with respectable records, each on their own continent. I believe that the small details, including calm, will determine the outcome of the matches,” he added.
