Morocco U20 head coach Mohamed Ouahbi has urged his players to remain grounded and focused despite their impressive start to the FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile.

The Atlas Lions opened their campaign with a 2-0 victory over Spain, a result that has boosted confidence within the camp. But Ouahbi insists the team must not get carried away.

“We must remain humble. We didn’t come here just to beat Spain, but to go as far as possible,” he told the Royal Moroccan Football Federation’s official website.

“We must win every match we can. Our players have good potential, but in the second half our attacking line didn’t press enough. Starting against Spain without conceding is a good sign. We now have to believe in ourselves and focus on the next game.”

Ouahbi praised the defensive solidity of his side, adding: “Alhamdulillah, we defended better. We are happy, but in the end, it’s only three points. We haven’t achieved anything yet; there’s still a long way to go.”

Turning his attention to their upcoming clash with Brazil, the coach struck a confident tone.

“It’s Brazil, and we’re at the World Cup. As we said from the start, we fear no one. We want to play these games and win them,” he said.

“We have confidence in this group, but we must stay humble. If we do, we can achieve great things, inshallah,” Ouahbi concluded.
