Morocco U-20 coach, Mohamed Wahbi, says their quarterfinal game against Sierra Leone is an important clash.
The Atlas Lions will clash with the Sierra Leoneans on Monday at the 30 June Stadium with kick-off scheduled at 15:00 GMT.
Ahead of the game, Wahbi pointed out that winning this match brings the team closer to achieving a historic achievement by qualifying for the U-20 World Cup in Chile, a primary goal agreed upon with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation before travelling to Egypt.
“This match is decisive for me and the players. We have no choice but to win and qualify,” he said.
“We respect Sierra Leone and its capabilities, but there is no excuse for failure if, God forbid, we do not win. We have prepared well and are ready for this encounter.
“We showed gradual improvement during the group stage, achieving two wins and a draw, and scoring six goals. But the knockout stages require exceptional focus, which is what we are working on now.”
Meanwhile. Mohamed Wahbi received good news after defender Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal, who plays for Amiens in France, has been declared fit for the game.
Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal missed the group stage matches against Nigeria and Tunisia after sustaining an injury during the opening match against Kenya.
