U-20 AFCON: I expected a tough game against Kenya – Morocco coach Mohamed Wahbi

Morocco head coach, Mohamed Wahbi, acknowledged the difficulty of playing Kenya following their hard-fought win.

The Atlas Lions opened their Group B campaign on Thursday at the 30 June Stadium in the ongoing U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

“I expected this scenario and warned the players about it, as the Kenyan team was not easy to beat,” Wehbe said after the game.

“The Kenyan team’s performance was fierce, and the start made our task difficult after they managed to score an early goal.

“The Moroccan players were somewhat under pressure, and this was reflected in their technical performance for many periods of the match. Injuries also disrupted our plans.

He concluded, “The important thing is that we achieved victory. There is no easy or difficult competitor, and it is necessary to work on addressing the lapses,” he added.

Morocco will face Nigeria in their second group game on Sunday, May 4.
