Burkina Faso to Host West African U-17 Tournament
Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso – Burkina Faso is set to host a regional youth football tournament featuring U-17 national teams from West Africa later this year. The competition, organized under the banner of the Union of West African Federations (UFOA) Zone B, will kick off on September 25 and conclude on October 4.
The draw for the tournament was conducted on Tuesday in the capital, Ouagadougou, confirming the participation of seven nations, including two invited teams.
Host nation Burkina Faso will compete in Group A alongside Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, and Sierra Leone, the latter being one of the two invited sides.
Group B features Nigeria, Niger, and Tunisia, with Tunisia also invited as a guest nation for this edition.
Zone B of UFOA officially comprises Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Niger, Nigeria, and Togo. Notably, Togo, which hosted a similar U-17 tournament last year known as the President Cup, is not among the participants this time.
