U-17 AFCON: Egypt clinch bronze after 2–0 win over Morocco
Egypt finished their U17 Africa Cup of Nations campaign on a high after defeating hosts Morocco 2–0 to secure the bronze medal in the tournament’s third-place play-off.
The young Pharaohs delivered a disciplined and clinical performance to silence the home crowd and deny Morocco a podium finish on home soil.
After a balanced opening phase, Egypt gradually asserted control and made their dominance count with a breakthrough midway through the contest. A well-worked attacking move opened the scoring, giving Egypt a deserved lead heading into the latter stages.
Morocco pushed forward in search of an equaliser but struggled to break down a compact Egyptian defensive setup, with chances becoming increasingly limited as the game wore on.
The decisive moment came late on when Egypt struck again to seal victory, effectively ending Morocco’s hopes of a comeback and confirming a comfortable finish for the visitors.
The result caps a strong tournament for Egypt, who leave with the bronze medal, while Morocco are left to reflect on a missed opportunity after falling short in front of their home supporters.
Meanwhile, Senegal will face Tanzania in the final of the U-17 AFCON tonight in Rabat.
