Modibo Diakité, the Franco-Malian defender, experienced an unfortunate incident in Italy. Two cars belonging to Diakité were reportedly set on fire in front of his home in Cesano, a northern suburb of Rome. While there were initial concerns about racism, the police dismissed this argument, attributing the act to an isolated incident involving a Lazio supporter.

The incident is believed to be connected to Diakité’s contractual situation with Lazio. As his contract with the club expired, the defender refused to extend it, and he has been training outside the group. The management at Lazio responded negatively to his actions.

Diakité, who arrived in Italy during his adolescence, initially went through the Sampdoria training center before joining Pescara in 2006. His performances caught the attention of Lazio leaders during a friendly match, leading to his recruitment for 300,000 euros. While initially a luxury replacement at Lazio, he became a key part of the team, winning the Italian Cup and Super Cup with the club in 2009. Despite numerous approaches from other Serie A clubs, Lazio has been reluctant to release him.
