Modou Sougou Set for Marseille Exit Amid Turkish Interest
Senegalese winger Modou Sougou appears to be on his way out of Olympique de Marseille, with Turkish clubs reportedly expressing strong interest in securing his services.
Sougou, 29, has returned to Marseille following a loan spell at Evian Thonon Gaillard, but he is not part of new manager Marcelo Bielsa’s plans for the upcoming season. The Argentine coach has made it clear that the Senegal international does not figure in his long-term vision for the club.
Despite being sidelined at the Stade Vélodrome, Sougou could soon find a fresh start abroad. According to Eurosport, several Turkish clubs have approached the player, signalling that a move to the Süper Lig could be on the horizon.
In the 2013–14 Ligue 1 season, Sougou made 29 appearances and scored four goals during his loan at Evian. His pace and experience have made him an attractive prospect for clubs looking to strengthen their attacking options.
As the transfer window progresses, the Senegal international will be hoping to finalise a move that allows him to relaunch his career with regular first-team football.
