Çaykur Rizespor have confirmed their interest in Mali international Modibo Sagnan by submitting an official offer to Montpellier in an attempt to secure his signature this summer.
The current window has been a very curious one for Montpellier as most of their players are looking for a route out of the club following their relegation to the French Ligue 2.
Sagnan, who made 27 appearances and scored two goals in the ill-fated campaign has emerged as a transfer target for Rizespor, who are keen to capture his signature.
Rizespor have already submitted an initial offer to Montpelleri and looking forward landing him for the upcoming 2025/26 football campaign.
Sagnan’s performance in the recently concluded campaign overshadowed the team struggles last term, earning him significant interest.
However, it is unknown whether Montpellier will accept the offer for the transfer of one of their best players.
Sagnan has a contract running until 2028 and could prove important in the club’s attempt to return to Ligue 1 at the first time of asking.
The 26-year-old has made four appearances and scored a goal for the Mali national team since switching allegiance from France in 2024.
