Turkish journalist released after investigation into Galatasaray claim about Bayern Munich’s Musiala

Turkish journalist Burhan Can Terzi has been released by a court after being questioned over allegations that he published misleading information about an alleged agreement between Galatasaray and Bayern Munich forward Jamal Musiala.

Terzi gave a statement at the security directorate in Istanbul after being taken into custody. He was then referred to court, which ordered his release following the hearing.

The case relates to information published by Terzi concerning Musiala, who he claimed was the subject of an agreement involving Galatasaray. Galatasaray rejected the reports on two separate occasions, but Terzi continued to insist that the information he had published was accurate.

Galatasaray accused the journalist of attempting to spread misleading information and of damaging the image of the club’s management of its transfer business.

Terzi’s detention was part of an investigation opened by the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office in Bakirkoy into the alleged public dissemination of misleading information. His detention prompted concern among sections of the football world and media before he was subsequently released by the court.

The case centres on claims about Musiala’s possible connection with Galatasaray rather than any confirmed transfer. The club has publicly denied the information attributed to Terzi, while the journalist has maintained his position.

Musiala, 23, remains under contract with Bayern Munich until the summer of 2030.
