Galatasaray have completed the acquisition of Ivory Coast international Wilfried Singo, marking a significant move in the current transfer window.
The 24-year-old centre-back joins the Turkish giants on a five-year deal from AS Monaco and is expected to play a huge role for the club, who are desperate to make meaningful impact in the current football campaign.
Galatasaray coughed over €30 to secure the signing of the Ivory Coast defender, with Monaco including a 10% sell-on fee clause in his contract.
The French Ligue 1 giants have pushed Singo towards the exit door since arrival of England international Eric Dier.
Having arrived in the Principality in the summer of 2023 from Torino, Singo played 60 matches in the Monaco defense, scoring 4 goals and providing 4 assists over two seasons, both of which finished with a place on the Ligue 1 podium.
In the Champions League, which the defender played for the first time last season, Singo contributed to the Rouge et Blanc‘s good campaign by scoring a memorable goal against Red Star Belgrade (in a 5-1 win) and also helped beat Aston Villa (1-0).
The defender also made a name for himself with the Ivorian national team. The 24-year-old defender, who has won 31 caps, participated in the Éléphants’ win of AFCON 2023, a tournament which was played at home. After Torino and AS Monaco, Wilfried now joins Galatasaray, current leader of the Turkish top flight.
